In 2007, Mike and Charlotte had a vision of creating and opening a yoga studio in their community in Colorado Springs.  That vision finally came to fruition in January 2009, when together they opened the doors to Pranava Yoga Center.

Before moving to Colorado Springs, Mike and Charlotte lived in New York, where they practiced yoga at studios that offered all aspects of yoga, not just the asana piece.  In these studios, there was greater attention put on the spiritual aspects of yoga.  These studios offered chanting, spiritual discussion, pranayama, asana, scriptural studies and meditation.  Mike and Charlotte were both deeply influenced by these studios, when they began creating their own vision for Pranava Yoga Center.

The studios that Mike and Charlotte practiced at in Colorado Springs did not seem to offer much on the spiritual side; they each seemed to focus primarily on the physical asana practice, and didn’t seem to incorporate the other aspects of a yoga practice.  The asana is important, but they missed the other elements of a complete yoga practice.

With the desire for a more complete practice and a sacred space to practice in, they opened Pranava Yoga Center.  PYC’s vision is to offer the different aspects of yoga to the community, in a sacred space, where one can find growth in not only their physical practice, but in all elements of their practice, including mental and spiritual growth.

Since opening its doors, Pranava Yoga Center has become well-recognized and well-respected in the community. Within the first year of opening, PYC was voted by the community as the best yoga center in The Gazette’s Best of the Springs 2009, Fox’s A List 2009, and was awarded second place in The Independent’s Best of Colorado Springs 2009. The center has been recognized to be a place where serious practitioners and beginners alike want to practice.  It has only been within a short amount of time, that PYC has successfully offered what the co-founders envisioned…………a sacred space, where all aspects of yoga are offered.
